HOW / WHEN/ WHEN NOT TO USE THE BAR PAD!
You might have seen people use ‘Bar Pads’ to ‘protect’ their back from squats, but actually long term this is going to hinder your progress rather than benefit you. Using the Bar Pad gets you used to resting the barbell and pad in the wrong position on your back and puts it more on your neck rather than either your traps (for a high bar position) or rear delts (for a low bar position).
Even though it might be a little bit sore to get the barbell used to sitting on your back to begin with, it is simply something you will get used to and adapt to. The bar pad will not help with this as you’'ll come to rely on it and never actually rest the bar in the correct position.
Whilst bar pads are great to use to assist you with Hip Thrusts, they’re not going to be of benefit for a Barbell Squat Watch this quick video for more info!
